Carlton Jackson's flowing, incisive drumming, melded with respect for the diverse tradition within different music makes him a consistent choice for local and national projects. The native of Portland, Oregon continues his close alliance with all areas of music, and is a first-call musician in the performance and recording industry. His performances have appeared on feature films, as well as local, national and international multimedia commercials. His past and present liaisons with contemporary jazz artists Tom Grant, Dan Siegel, guitarist Dan Balmer, acoustic bass legend Leroy Vinnegar, Blues/R&B; stylist Curtis Salgado, and currently with iconoclastic blues guitarist Terry Robb have solidified his reputation as a well-rounded and sensitive performer. A continuous involvement with various educational aspects of the industry include: past and present affiliations with Young Audiences of Oregon faculty clinician/teacher: The Mel Brown/ Western Oregon University Jazz Workshop private teaching all levels at Morrison Bridge Music in Portland, adjudicator/ clinician at various high schools and collegiate jazz festivals.
