The JSO awards scholarships and tuition to encourage serious students of jazz to pursue their jazz studies. Awards are offered for private and group instruction, workshops, and master class participation twice each year. Postmarked deadlines are Jan. 15 and Sept. 30. Applicants wishing to apply for summer jazz camps and workshops must postmark applications by June 1. Any exceptions to the above will be considered on a case-by-case basis. DEADLINE FOR SUMMER JAZZ CAMPS/WORKSHOPS WILL BE MAY 26, 2006. All applications must be postmarked by May 26th. To be eligible applicants must be between the ages of 9-21 and reside in Oregon or Clark County, Washington. Applications will be reviewed by the Jazz Education Committee and awarded on the basis of applicants' serious dedication to the study of instrumental or vocal jazz or theory, composition and arranging of jazz. All applicants will be notified within 15 days after the deadline. Winners and their groups may be invited to perform at JSO Board meetings or festivals to celebrate their talents.
