Breaking into the scene

I'm wondering if any of the "pros" out there have some input for a recent Portland transplant on breaking into the jazz scene in
Portland.
I played semi-professionally for years back in northern Arizona, and was a college jazz professor for 5 years before moving
here.
I actually have been working a lot in the last 9 months as the full-time trumpet player for Rubberneck and a few other funk/rock
bands.
I have been able to check out a few of the jazz clubs around town, and it looks great! Just wondering if anyone had any
suggestions on getting around.
