JSO is sponsoring a monthly JSO Member's Night at three local clubs. Our first event was on January 9 at Jimmy Mak's with Mel Brown. On February 13, we met to hear Sweet Baby James at Tony Starlights's Supperclub Lounge. These were both exceptional performances that tell us we are right to support the Jazz Society of Oregon. This music is more than sound, it is a tradition that needs to be nurtured, preserved and extended. Come share the next event at JAX on March 12. We will share in the exceptional bass playing and vocals of Kate Davis, a local phenomenon. Don't miss it! JSO Night will be held the second Wednesday of every month. We will have special seating and participate in a discussion with the performers between sets. The host club will donate a portion of the evening's proceeds to a fund established to help music students in our area with their educational expenses. Put March 12, 2008, on your calendar and make your reservation today! Let's support our favorite art form by patronizing our local clubs, raising funds for our future performers, meet your fellow members, and, if you are not careful, maybe even have a little fun!
